Full Details

Starkey&Brown are delighted to offer for sale this circa 18th/ 19th century residence located in the popular cliff village of Wellingore. Boasting 3 bedrooms, 3 reception rooms, which include garden room (formerly a tack room), utility room, lounge, downstairs WC, study and dining room. The property is steeped with feature characteristics you would expect from a period property. The property comes with a custom fitted kitchen with granite worktops and original cabinets. Rising to the first floor there are 3 generous sized bedrooms and a 3 piece bathroom suite. Further additions to the home include a larger than average double garage for parking for 3 vehicles and a workshop area. Beautifully style gardens being enclosed with high walled perimeters, mature shrubs, flower beds and a raised seating area. To the rear of the property there is a gravelled driveway with access to double garages.
Historically, the home comes with links to Wellingore Hall which was the estate belonging to the Neville family and built in 1760. Wellingore Hall was the centrepoint of the village with most businesses and locals working within the estate. It is believed to be that the original building now known as 'The Cottage' was part of the former stables servicing the estate.
In the present, Wellingore is well known for its picturesque streets and cliff position and is located nearby to Navenby with all the amenities within walking distance. There is a regular bus service to and from Lincoln and Grantham, and easy rail access from Grantham and Newark to London and Nottingham. For more information contact Starkey&Brown today.

In 1760, Wellingore Hall was built for the Neville family, who are descended from the most powerful barons amongst ancient chivalry in England. By the late 19th Century, the village was a thriving community with a good number of businesses supporting the estate and the population. “The Cottage” was part of the Neville Estate and with its proximity to the Hall, it is thought originally to have been part of the stables..

The estate was sold in the 1930s after falling into disrepair and was only redeveloped in 1933 turning some of the buildings into houses and businesses, including a chemist and a cycle shop. Both were connected to The Cottage.
